Needless to say, it has been a very eventful weekend for on-loan Manchester United striker Odion Ighalo.
Ighalo’s team that holds his rights is Shanghai Shenhua, who like many teams across Europe are preparing for their season to start and according to Sky Sports just placed a £20m price tag on Ighalo.
Shanghai Shenhua will only allow Ighalo to remain at Old Trafford if it is on a permanent deal but as of yet, Manchester United haven’t given Ighalo a formal offer yet although it was rumored that United offered him a $400k a week offer last month.
Ighalo’s current contract expires in December 2022, but Shanghai want to keep him until at least December 2024, adding another twist to the Ighalo saga, Newcastle United have hinted that they would be interested in Ighalo if their proposed takeover is completed this summer.
The Nigerian striker’s loan ends on June 30th and if the Premier League resumes as thought to happen the season will undoubtedly carry over into July and who knows what will happen to loan deals across Europe then.
