Manchester United has been very diligent in inking their young players to new long-term contracts but one player remains unsigned, Angel Gomes and now Chelsea are rumored to be interested in his talents.
Gomes is out of contract at the end of next month but United want to keep him around, offering Gomes a £30,000-a-week extension which was rejected earlier this year.
Thew midfielder hired Pini Zahavi to broker a move, with the Mirror claiming discussions have been held between the super-agent and Chelsea transfer chief Marina Granovskaia.
Chelsea ‘believe they are close to landing’ Gomes when his Old Trafford deal expires and have allegedly been chasing Gomes for quite a while now.
Although Gomes rejected United’s offer, last month he revealed his desire to stay at Old Trafford for his entire career. “I’ve seen it over the years, coming up from the academy and being at United my whole career,” said Gomes.
“It’s what I want to go on to do – win trophies for the club.”
Making his first-team debut in 2017, Gomes had made four other top-flight appearances for United since then, while also picking up first-team minutes in the Europa League, FA Cup, and EFL Cup.
