Atletico Madrid’s midfielder Thomas Partey is probably a player you never heard of but the possibility of Manchester United signing him is intriguing because Partey wants to move to England and loves being linked to United.
Partey is a playmaker, similar to Bruno Fernandez, a natural goal scorer and a midfielder that can turn a simple pass into a goal-scoring opportunity.
According to Saddick Adams, a journalist specializing in African football, a source close to the number 5, has claimed he isn’t interested in extending his contract in the Spanish capital. With a “small” €50million (£43.5million) release clause in his current deal at Atletico, Partey is a possibility.
United have yet to replace Ander Herrera after he left for Paris Saint-Germain almost a year ago and Partey could be the perfect candidate to do so.
The 26-year-old midfielder has made making 34 appearances this season and is often the spark, setting up forward passes in Aletico’s high-powered offense.
Partey’s agent, Daniel Jiménez, is currently in negotiations with Atlético’s hierarchy over a new deal but reports suggest both sides are at a standstill.
