With two years left on his Manchester United contract, on-loan goalkeeper Dean Henderson hinted to his Sheffield United coach, Chris Wilder, that he wants to get 50 caps for England and wants to return to Old Trafford and battle David De Gea for the starting keepers’ jersey.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Wilder said: “I spoke to Dean after, he wants to win 50 caps and play for Manchester United, and he has to overcome disappointments.
“He is pushing now, he’s a young boy, and we talk about mistakes, but he gets over them. He has got a mental strength to play in goal with his a hugely difficult position and a brilliant attitude and ability. I am sure he will be pushing and gaining that England shirt he is desperate to get.”
His 22 goals across 27 appearances at Sheffield are very impressive considering where The Blades were without him in previous seasons. Henderson has 45 league appearances, with 21 clean sheets, cementing himself as a firm fan favorite at Bramall Lane.
It is expected that Henderson will return to Sheffield United for another season but has received interest from Chelsea and PSG.
