One of Spain’s biggest papers, Sport, suggests that Real Madrid’s out of favor James Rodriguez and his agent Jorge Mendes have been in contact with Manchester United trying to secure a move in the summer.
Rodriguez, a Colombian international has seen his playing time at Real Madrid reduced with the return of Zinedine Zidane, starting just four times in La Liga this season.
Real Madrid paid £71m to sign him from Monaco in 2014 and it is rumored that Real are willing to listen to offers below £35million.
Mendes is clear that the midfielder must leave Madrid: “James has the quality to play for any team in the world. If he were me, he would be running from Madrid,” he said in Colombian media.
Rodriguez reportedly had agreed to personal terms to move to Old Trafford in 2017 but the two clubs failed to agree on a price. Real Madrid also attempted to include Rodriguez as part of a deal to bring Paul Pogba to La Liga, but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side were unwilling to let the Frenchman leave.
James had to return to Real Madrid in July after Bayern Munich failed to make his purchase option. Without Zidane’s confidence, sees clearly that his future is far from the Bernabéu.
