Spanish website Sport is claiming that Manchester United have opened up talks to sign Barcelona defender Nelson Semedo.
Semedo, 26, lost his place to Sergi Roberto in Barca’s starting XI earlier this season and talks over a contract extension have stalled as speculation mounts over the right-back’s future.
The report suggests United have entered into talks with Barca to gauge Semedo’s potential availability before the summer transfer window opens.
There are two big hindrances in this potential move, first being Semedo’s huge €100million buyout clause and second, with Diogo Dalot and Aaron Wan-Bissaka firmly planted in the backline, Semedo doesn’t have a spot.
It has been documented that Barcelona are in financial trouble due to the coronavirus outbreak and might be willing to negotiate a lower price for Semedo’s release.
