If what SKY Sports is reporting comes to fruition, then there could be an interesting fight for RB Leipzig midfielder Dayot Upamecano brewing.
SKY suggests that both Manchester United and Manchester City are interested in the 21-year-old French youth international who is entering the final year of his contract and has a reported £52.5m release clause.
Upamecano is no stranger to Premier League clubs inquiring about him. Arsenal were linked to him in the past but have two strong center-backs coming in over the summer, William Saliba from St Etienne and Pablo Mari who is on loan and Arsenal are trying to make his move permanent.
United’s center-back position isn’t as solid as manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer would like and with Chris Smalling and Phil Jones’s future at Old Trafford up in the air, Upamecano would be a good fit.
Upamecano, who has as made 29 appearances this season in all competitions, including six in the Champions League, is also generating interest from Bayern Munich and several other high profile clubs in Spain and across Europe as well.
