Manchester United striker and fan-favorite Odion Ighalo has announced in an interview with Elegbete TV that Manchester United have yet to offer the on-loan striker a new contract extension.
Ighalo stole the hearts of United fans when he joined on a last-minute January transfer from Chinese Super League team Shanghai Shenhua. Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has since hinted that Ighalo could be kept at the club beyond the end of the current campaign, but the 30-year-old says an offer is yet to be formalized.
“There is no offer on the table yet” adding, “Because the season is still on and I’m yet to finish my loan deal. I don’t just take decisions alone in my life. I have a principle and I have a guideline for everything I do. I always pray to God to direct me.”
It was rumored recently that Shanghai Shenhua have offered Ighalo a £400,000 a week contract to stay with the team but isnt in a rush to make any decisions if and when an offer from the teams come through, “I don’t just sit down and take decisions, and I don’t get carried away with whatever people say. I came to Manchester United to play for a pay cut because I wanted to. So anything could happen, but I want the season to finish and my loan to finish. Then I will see everything I have.
Ighalo’s current contract expires in December 2022, but Shanghai want to keep him until at least December 2024.
