We reported earlier that Manchester United were close to losing Tahith Chong in the summer unless a deal could be reached to keep the young winger at Old Trafford, but reports today suggest his move is almost certain after tension developed between Chong and the club, stemming from the way manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has handled the player’s situation.
Chong has been linked with Juventus and is looking to land a long-term contract worth around £50,000 a week at the Serie A giant.
Erkan Alkan, his agent, weighed in on the situation:
“He (Solskjaer) has different views on Tahith than the leadership. A coach thinks about himself; I think about my player. He has come to a point where he feels that he is not going any further. Then it’s time to look further.”
Chong as only started four matches this campaign and has largely failed to impress either as a starter or coming off the bench.
